Found in tropical areas of South America as well as Thailand, the Calathea zebrina (also called the zebra plant) is known for its broad, elliptical leaves distinctly marked with bright zebra-like stripes on a velvety dark green background. Unlike many other Calatheas, the zebra plant can grow quite large, reaching over 3 feet tall and 2 feet wide, with leaves up to 18" or longer! These plants are well suited to the indoor environment but it should be noted that they do require a bit more care with water and moisture. Make sure to keep the soil moist and regularly mist the leaves to increase humidity.
Tips: If placed near a sunny window, the leaves will rotate with the sun as it travels across the sky!
